The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting our Finance Team with various duties and responsibilities. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of general accounting, payroll and administrative duties in support of our daily, monthly and year-end operations.
As an Accounting Assistant, you are as self starter, detail-oriented and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles. Your numerical skills, familiarity with accounting software and a dedication to maintain confidentiality will contribute to the overall success of our finance department.
WHAT YOU’LL DO :
- Most importantly, you will lead by example, live our values, and drive business relationships for the company by providing exceptional service.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records by meticulous data entry and reconciliation.
- Assist with payroll function to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Prepare bank deposits including looking up client for appropriate coding, ensuring there is a balance to be paid, or getting clarification and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Follow up on required information for e-transfers (passwords, ensuring transaction is billed in the system etc.).
- Data entry of journal entries, expense reports, credit card expenses and statements.
- Assist with Accounts payable and receivable process functions.
- Assisting in the formulation of correspondence to vendors and clients.
- Process invoices and expense reports, including journal entries, credit card expenses, statements ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Direct bill reconciliations – reconciling discrepancies between insurance company statement and HK Henderson Insurance transactions for direct billed policies.
- Recording revenue through review of insurance company statements.
- Distribution of insurance company discrepancies to the applicable service team
- Other duties as required.
WHAT WE REQUIRE :
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Bookkeeping, Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification experience considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or payroll experience preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of CRA regulations pertaining to payroll and accepted accounting principles.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with ADP payroll software is an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
- Experience with internal Broker Management Systems (EPIC) considered an asset.
