The Financial Services team manages the reporting and compliance functions related to financial reporting for the organization. Our reporting is based on IFRS accounting standards. Our compliance activities encompass process overviews for evaluating risks and assessing the existence and effectiveness of internal controls.

Your Accounting Analyst II responsibilities:
- Provide strong, timely financial results and analytics for decisions by partners throughout the organization, in line with IFRS accounting standards.
- Create and maintain working papers efficiently and effectively, providing thoughtful analysis and insight on the status and trends of financial results
- Improve and optimize your work utilizing data tools to automate the transactional aspects of your working papers.
- Serve as liaison between staff and management by analyzing and interpreting data for organizational procedures, policies, and workflows.
- Provide accounting assistance and financial analysis to operational departments on a monthly and annual basis.
- Provide mentorship, accounting assistance and support to more junior analysts as well as Banking and Accounts Payable departments.
- Support financial reporting compliance activities through participation on internal controls and financial governance projects.
- Evaluate business cases and contracts to provide insight on accounting treatment, budget impacts, and financial risk.
- Assist the Finance Management team in projects as assigned.
Your experience and skills:- University degree in Business, with a focus on Accounting and Data Analytics.
- CPA designation is required. Candidates nearing completion of the CPA designation may also be considered.
- At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible financial business experience, including working with complex accounting transactions, navigating through change, mapping business processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Knowledge of accounting policies and practices (IFRS), internal controls and financial governance practices.
- Experience with automated solutions to enhance financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, PowerBI) skills are essential.
- Proficiency working with Workday Adaptive Planning, and PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of data management concepts.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, plan and organize required tasks to meet deadlines.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical staff, and the ability to present analyses in a clear and concise format.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and consulting skills. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work through priorities and support deliverables.
- Ability to learn quickly when faced with problems and ambiguity.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as creativity in identifying options and solutions.
- Ability to remain composed when faced with unexpected problems and work effectively through stressful situations.

Salary: $83,185.00 to $97,826.00 per annum (Pay Grade 11)
This position is temporary for a period of up to one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance and credit check as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office as required by their position.
