Job summary

Walter Capital Management, part of the Walter Group, seeks an efficient, detail-oriented Analyst to join the Finance Team in Westmount, Montréal. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Projects, you will manage the full accounting cycle for partnerships and GP entities and support fund and corporate accounting initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA is an asset.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and IFRS/ASPE knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP implementations.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for partnerships and GP entities, including journals and reconciliations.
• Support fund and corporate accounting and review investment valuations and carried interest.
• Maintain data for portfolio companies’ cap tables and partners’ capital accounts.
• Handle invoicing of management fees and monitor accounts receivable.
• Assist month-end close, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate entity filings and support year-end audits.
• Contribute to ERP and reporting-tool implementations.

Position Summary

We are seeking an efficient, detail-oriented and collaborative analyst to join our Finance Team. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Corporate Projects, this role will handle the full accounting cycle of the partnerships and general partner entities, support fund and corporate accounting more broadly, contribute to financial software implementations, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsabilities

Fund & Corporate Accounting

• Perform full-cycle accounting for the partnerships and general partner entities of the structure - journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and all supporting work required to prepare standalone financial statements.
• Support the fund accounting process, including transactional cash movements, accounting journal entries, and reconciliation of partner equity accounts, along with review and accounting of investment valuations, gains/losses, and carried interest calculations.
• Maintain accurate and complete financial data, including accounting for all transactions and changes to portfolio companies’ cap tables and limited partners’ capital accounts.
• Handle invoicing of management fees and track accounts receivable to ensure timely collections.

Month-End Close & Reporting

• Support the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting financial statement preparation.
• Respond promptly to ad-hoc requests and inquiries, ensuring high-quality, accurate support.

Tax, Regulatory & Compliance

• Maintain organizational charts, coordinate entity annual filings and partnership tax declarations, and support the year-end audit for the partnerships.

Process & System Improvements

• Maintain the performance measurement and reporting software, ensuring data integrity, accurate inputs, and timely updates.
• Participate in ongoing process improvements for the finance department.
• Contribute to financial software implementations to optimize accounting operations, including the continuous improvement of our ERP (Sage Intacct) and the implementation of a reporting tool for our clients.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting, audit, or fund administration background is an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; professional designation such as CPA is an asset.
• Experience in the full accounting cycle for multi-entity corporate structures, including month-end close and financial statement preparation and consolidation.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements under IFRS and ASPE.
• Advanced Excel skills, including work with large data sets.
• Experience with financial software implementations and process improvements in an accounting or finance function; knowledge of Sage Intacct is an asset.
• Experience in investment fund accounting or the private equity industry is an asset.
• Proficiency in French and English, written and spoken.
