Job summary

Laking Toyota in Sudbury, Ontario, is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join its Accounting Department. This role focuses on meticulous payroll processing, general accounting tasks, and ensuring timely, accurate payments while maintaining strict confidentiality.

The ideal candidate holds a degree or diploma in Accounting/Payroll, with at least two years of accounting administration experience, and strong Excel skills. The position offers growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Accounting, Payroll Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of Accounting Administration experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for multiple companies or locations is preferred.
  • Experience with dealership management systems, or similar payroll software is considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting and administrative functions for the Laking Group.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including matching invoices, statements, and payments.
  • Post and reconcile daily deposits, cash, credit card, and EFT transactions.
  • Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Process vehicle deal accounting, including reviewing deal jackets, funding requirements, and posting vehicle sales.
  • Ensure vehicle deals are accurately posted and all required documentation is complete.
  • Reconcile manufacturer, lender, and other dealership accounts.
  • Monitor and reconcile floorplan and vehicle inventory accounts.
  • Process vehicle purchases, trades, wholesale transactions, and related accounting entries.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules for financial reporting.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related accounting entries, as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure transactions are properly documented and filed.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collection follow-up.
  • Process refunds, customer payments, and other dealership financial transactions.
  • Work closely with Sales, Finance & Insurance, Service, Parts, and Management to resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable accounting procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, and customer information.
  • Provide administrative support to the Controller and accounting department as required.
  • Identify discrepancies, errors, and process improvements and bring issues to management's attention.
  • Assist the accounting department with administrative and accounting duties as required.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes.
