Job summary

Canpotex is seeking a permanent Accountant (Ocean Transportation) to join our Finance team in Saskatoon. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries and account adjustments, and assisting with audits.

Qualified candidates will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, with 3-5 years of accounting experience. A CPA designation is an asset. Canpotex offers a hybrid work environment and a competitive total rewards package.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with accounting systems and computer-based tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and track costs.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account adjustments.
  • Perform account reconciliations for data accuracy.
  • Create reports and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Support budgeting processes and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Code invoices in accordance with established procedures.

We are looking for a permanent Accountant (Ocean Transportation) to join our Finance team in Saskatoon!

Headquartered in Saskatoon with three international offices, Canpotex is one of the world's largest suppliers of potash overseas. On behalf of our Shareholders, Mosaic and Nutrien, we market and deliver Saskatchewan potash, a valuable fertilizer nutrient, to millions of fields and farmers globally - ultimately helping the world grow more food.

The opportunity
  • Maintain accurate financial records and track costs related to designated entities.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments to support timely financial reporting.
  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Create reports, perform analysis, and provide insights to support decision-making and operational effectiveness.
  • Support budgeting processes, including preparation of supporting documentation and variance analysis.
  • Prepare annual audit files and assist with internal and external audits, including SOX-related processes.
  • Code invoices, statements, and other financial documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contacts to support accounting activities related to Ocean Transportation.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of internal controls and documentation to safeguard corporate assets.

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
