Job summary

Kroeker Farms Limited in Winkler, MB, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations and the month-end close for the Kroeker Farms group of companies. This full-time position is based at our Head Office in Winkler, MB.

You will work closely with the Assistant Controller, handling general ledger activities, journal entries, reconciliations, asset management, and financial reporting. CPA candidacy is supported and advancement opportunities exist as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, with exposure to private or public companies.
• CPA candidacy is supported for interested candidates.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage large data sets.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ethical, trustworthy, and maintains confidentiality in financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger and month-end close.
• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain records for fixed assets, capital projects, and insurance.
• Handle AP/AR and financial statements for small corporations.
• Assist with job costing for field operations and cost allocation.
• Administer corporate credit cards and reconcile transactions.
• Contribute to process improvements and internal controls.

As Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations and the month-end close across the Kroeker Farms group of companies. Working closely with the Assistant Controller, you will gain hands-on experience within a fast-growing organization and the opportunity to build a strong accounting foundation. This is a full-time position, located at our Head Office in Winkler, MB.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Assistant Controller in executing day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for bank accounts, prepaids, accruals, inventory, long-term debt, and other key financial statement areas.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for fixed assets and capital projects, including purchase orders, acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and insurance.
• Perform accounting and financial reporting for small corporations, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial statements.
• Support job costing for field operations, ensuring accurate cost allocation and tracking.
• Administer corporate credit cards, including reconciliation, coding, and posting of transactions.
• Contribute to improving accounting processes, documenting procedures, and supporting internal controls to ensure consistency and accuracy, under the guidance of the Assistant Controller.
• Assist with the preparation of GST, PST, and other filings.
• Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for management and other stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach to customer service.
• Previous bookkeeping and/or private or public accounting experience. Support will be provided for candidates interested in or actively pursuing CPA candidacy.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work efficiently with large datasets.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and solve problems.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
• Adaptable to change in a growing organization with evolving systems and processes.

• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be considered an advantage.
