The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Accountant to join our team at CPA Canada. Reporting directly to the Manager of General Accounting and Internal Reporting, this role involves collaborating independently with various business units to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions and will play a crucial role in supporting our mission and vision.

The targeted annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Data Integration : Manage the daily integration of data from our CRM system (Aptify) to Microsoft Great Plains (GP). Additionally, manage the transfer of Accounts Payable data from SAP Concur to GP.
  • Daily Deposits : Process and handle daily accounts receivable aging, as well as prepare deposit cheques and credit card transactions.
  • Account Reconciliations : Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations promptly.
  • Invoicing : Manage the monthly invoicing process to related parties.
  • Financial Operations : Oversee day-to-day accounting activities related to multiple currencies transactions and batching of international transactions.
  • Accounting Support : Provide prompt responses to accounting-related inquiries and offer ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • Month End : Handle month-end duties related to fixed assets management, international chapter support, and expense analysis.
  • Audit Support : Assist in the Interim and Year-end Audit Engagement processes.
  • Forecast and Budgeting : Contribute to the forecast and budget worksheet preparation, focusing on capital expenditure and amortization.
  • Data Integrity : Ensure accurate data transfer between SAP Concur and Microsoft GP, with a specific focus on balancing the AP Aging report.
  • Collaboration : Coordinate with business units during critical intervals (month-ends, quarter-ends, year-end, forecast, and budget periods) to gather essential data for financial reporting.
  • Compliance : Adhere to CPA Canada policies and procedures, ensuring all financial activities are conducted in compliance with the relevant guidelines.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience :

  • Diploma / Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or similar field;
  • Designated CPA or in process of obtaining designation preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of accounting and relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Sound relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong time-management, planning and organization skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Resilience and the ability to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills using MS office applications, especially Excel.
