Job summary

The Victoria Foundation is seeking an Accountant to join their Finance team in Victoria, BC on a full-time 24-month contract with a flexible hybrid work environment.

You will perform hands-on bookkeeping and day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate records, support the annual audit, and contribute to processes that strengthen community funding efforts. This role suits detail‑oriented professionals who value accuracy, organization and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in bookkeeping, finance or accounting is required.
  • Minimum one year of recent bookkeeping or accounting support experience.
  • Experience with financial and accounting systems and GAAP/ASNPO/CRA reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Enter financial transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Support payment processing, reviews and reporting.
  • Prepare payments for secondary review and processing.
  • Perform monthly bank and investment reconciliations and month‑end tasks.
  • Prepare monthly grant slate and assist with donor fund statements.
  • Assist with annual audit documentation, tax filings and financial reporting.
  • Support CRA reporting (GST, T4A, T3010) and internal controls.

On behalf of our client, Victoria Foundation, we are searching for an Accountant to join their Finance team in Victoria, BC. This is a full-time 24-month contract position offering a flexible hybrid work environment.

This role is ideal for a detail-orientated accounting professional who enjoys hands‑on bookkeeping and accounting work and takes pride in accuracy, organization and follow-through. Working within a collaborative Finance team, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations, maintain accurate records and contribute to processes that support the Foundation's work in community.

What you will be doing
  • Enter financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support payment processing, including transaction review and required reporting.
  • Prepare payments for secondary review and processing.
  • Complete monthly bank and investment account reconciliations and other month‑end activities.
  • Prepare the monthly grant slate and assist with donor fund statements.
  • Assist with annual audit documentation, tax filings, budget documents and financial reporting.
  • Support CRA reporting and filings, including GST, T4A and T3010.
  • Maintain financial processes and procedures while contributing to process improvements and established internal controls.
  • Respond to financial inquiries and support the Finance team and other Foundation staff as required.

What you bring with you
  • Post-secondary education in bookkeeping, finance, accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent bookkeeping or accounting support experience, preferably in a non‑profit environment.
  • Experience working with financial and accounting systems.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, ASNPO and CRA reporting requirements and filings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
