Job summary

Miles Employment Group partners with a well-established, family-owned company in downtown Vancouver to recruit an Accountant pursuing CPA designation. This role offers mentorship from the Controller and tangible support as you progress toward your CPA.

Join a stable finance team focused on high-level analysis and core financial management. You will bridge theory with practice while contributing to month-end close and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA track enrolled, pursuing CPA designation.
• Proven experience in a professional accounting role with solid accounting knowledge.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP); New Views is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical problem solving, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end financial statements, journals, and maintain ledgers and balance sheets.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, post sales entries, and receipts.
• Perform bank reconciliations, GST payments, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Analyze budgets and provide financial insights to support strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with Controller and other departments for cross-functional accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end financial statements, journals, and maintain accurate ledgers and balance sheets.
• Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage accounts payable/receivable, post sales entries, and handle daily cash receipts.
• Reconciliations & Compliance: Execute bank reconciliations, GST payments, and ensure total compliance with financial regulations.
• Business Intelligence: Analyze budgets and provide financial insights to support strategic business decisions.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Controller and other departments to ensure cross-functional efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA Track: Currently enrolled in the CPA program (highly preferred).
• Experience: Proven experience in a professional accounting role with a strong grasp of accounting principles.
• Tech Savvy: Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, etc.). Experience with New Views is considered a significant asset.
• Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
