Job summary

Spectrum Health Care in Ontario, Toronto, is seeking a Corporate Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting, journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis. You will ensure ASPE compliance and support month-end and year-end closes while providing insightful financial analysis to guide business decisions.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting, CPA designation with 3-5 years of related experience, and a track record in multi-entity consolidations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete month-end and year-end close processes with reconciliations and journal entries.
• Ensure accruals are accurate and properly recorded across revenue, expenditures and balance sheet.
• Assist with inter-company consolidations and consolidation of monthly financial statements.
• Support internal controls improvements and process enhancements within the department.
• Participate in interim/year-end audits and liaise with other finance functions.

Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager and Controller, the Corporate Accountant will assist in full-cycle accounting and month-end/year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis. This role will also be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards under ASPE and providing insightful analysis to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent technical skills, prior experience in full-cycle accounting, strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.

The role will also play an active role in continually establishing and improving internal financial processes and controls within the department. Salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 (Compensation is based on experience).

Job Description

• Complete month-end/year-end close processes, including preparing account reconciliations, journal entries and supporting working papers
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of accruals, including proper coding and recording of revenue, expenditures and balance sheet transactions
• Assist in reviewing, analyzing and investigating accounts, including reconciling data across systems
• Support the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial statements and recording of inter-company transactions across multiple subsidiaries
• Assist with interim/year-end audit processes within scheduled deadlines
• Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
• Liaise and work closely with other finance functions across multiple subsidiaries
• Perform ad hoc projects/assignments as required, including system enhancement and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• CPA designation with 3-5 years of related accounting experience and strong knowledge of ASPE and multi-entity consolidations
• Experience at a Canadian Public Accounting firm is preferred
