As an Accountant in the Finance team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the books and records of the company and its subsidiaries are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures. The accountant works in collaboration with the Corporate Accounting Manager to maintain highly detailed analytical reports supporting financial data. This position plays a key role in the production of monthly financial statements as well as year-end audit, annual budget, and forecasts.
What does your typical day look like?
- Work in collaboration with the Corporate Accounting Manager and the site controllers to ensure the production of monthly financial statements.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Accounting Manager to produce external audit documentation.
- Assist in preparing financial analysis on financial statements, highlighting performance issues and preparing reports for management.
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts in a timely manner, including intercompany transactions.
- Research and resolve all outstanding, out-of-balance, or stale-dated items.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience, preferably in the financial or travel insurance industry.
- Professional designation of CPA would be an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written). English is used daily, particularly for follow-ups with other departments across various sites, including Ontario, Miami, Mexico, or elsewhere.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of taxation regulations.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Workday and Adaptive would be an asset.
