Job summary

TKC Recruitment + HR Consulting seeks an energetic Accountant to join its Edmonton finance team. This is an execution-focused role, close to the work, with training from the CFO and CEO, in a growing healthcare technology and services environment.

The role is hybrid (three days in office), with 2–4 years of experience, a degree in accounting or finance, and a passion for accuracy. You’ll handle day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and opportunities to apply AI and automation.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on accounting experience in a full-cycle environment.
  • A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is not required; progress toward CPA is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Technology-first approach with enthusiasm for AI and automation in accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day accounting across accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and balance-sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and the general ledger.
  • Support accurate and timely month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, working papers, schedules, and reports for review by senior finance leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with project and cost accounting, including transaction coding, cost tracking, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Support tax, audit, and compliance requirements by coordinating documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Use accounting data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and highlight opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Explore and apply AI, automation, and modern accounting technology to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and strengthen financial processes.
  • Partner directly with the CFO, CEO, and other senior leaders on priority finance initiatives and special projects.
  • Contribute wherever needed within a small, fast-moving team where priorities can evolve quickly.

You will receive hands-on training and mentorship from the CFO and work directly with the CEO. The role also offers exposure to the broader investment group and potential opportunities to contribute across other portfolio companies over time. What You'll Do:

What You'll Bring:
