Job summary

Brampton Caledon Community Living Inc is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the finance team in Brampton. The role collaborates with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial management while complying with applicable regulations and funding requirements.

The Accountant will handle month-end close, budgeting support, and financial reporting, with responsibilities spanning reconciliations, analysis, and audit support.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or pursuing CPA is an asset.
  • Experience in nonprofit or MCCSS-funded environments is an asset.
  • Experience with Sage 300 and ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Complete month-end process including journal entries, sub-ledger reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with monthly financial reporting deliverables.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis reports and forecasting schedules.
  • Monitor AP/AR ledgers to ensure timely payment of receipts and disbursements.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the annual financial audit process.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and payroll information.

ACCOUNTANT

Salary Range: $69,955.20 To $72,870.00 Annually

Brampton Caledon Community Living (BCCL) is an organization that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities in partnership with their families and the community to lead enriched and meaningful lives. We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in Brampton.

Job Summary

As a full-time member of the finance team, the accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate and timely management of all financial matters. The accountant will provide highly skilled, professional services consistent with the Association’s mission while ensuring compliance with all applicable legislative, regulatory, and funding requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Complete month-end process including journal entries, sub-ledger reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with the monthly financial reporting deliverables
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis reports and forecasting schedules
  • Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions
  • Prepare detailed reconciliations and account analysis
  • Monitor the AP/AR ledgers to ensure timely payment of receipts and disbursements
  • Management of general ledger accounts
  • Review and investigate account variances
  • Monitor and reconcile daily and monthly bank statements
  • Submit applications for various rebates as applicable
  • Prepare Annual Charity Return
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when working with sensitive financial information, employee information and payroll records
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the annual financial audit process
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance
Education and Experience
  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in financial accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or currently pursuing CPA certification, is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a non‑profit or charitable organization funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Sage 300 and ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing demands in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs and outcomes, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Eager to learn, with a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to contributing positively to the team and organizational goals.
