Brief Description:

The National Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining and expanding Ulterra’s customer base in the Calgary region to increase revenue and ensure customer satisfaction. As a frontline representative of the organization, this role involves actively managing current accounts while also seeking new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, skilled networker, and have a strong understanding of drilling products and customer needs.

Detailed Description

  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts by building relationships and providing consistent follow-up.
  • Actively pursue new customer opportunities through cold calling, networking, and outreach to key drilling decision-makers.
  • Stay informed on Ulterra’s PDC drill bits and competitor products to effectively promote solutions aligned with customer needs.
  • Coordinate meetings with both current and prospective customers to present products and assist with bit selection strategies.
  • Develop and submit customized drilling programs tailored to customer applications.
  • Handle billing review and resolve any pricing or product issues prior to invoicing.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, HR, Supply Chain, and Field Operations to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Report to the City Sales Manager and provide regular updates on customer activity, sales targets, and field insights.
  • Attend industry events and support field calls as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic oil and gas drilling principles.
  • Strong self-motivation, drive, and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General computer proficiency, including email, CRM tools, and report generation.
  • Ability to engage with and influence customers professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to manage emotions and maintain composure in challenging sales scenarios.
  • Must comply with Ulterra’s health and safety policies at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of experience in sales, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales and Marketing, or similar discipline.
  • H2S, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications.
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.

Additional Details

The National Sales Representative must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
