Job description

Account Manager, Partnership Development
  • Full-time

At Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership (MLSE), we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that is representative of our community and where all employees feel they belong and can reach their full potential. We are Canada’s preeminent leader in delivering top quality sport and entertainment experiences and one of North America’s leading providers of exceptional fan experiences. We are the parent company of the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs, the National Basketball Association’s Toronto Raptors, Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC, the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts, and development teams with the Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBA G League), Toronto FC II (MLS Next Pro), and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club (NBA 2K League).

MLSE owns and/or operates all the venues our teams play and train in, including Scotiabank Arena, BMO Field, Coca-Cola Coliseum, Ford Performance Centre, BMO Training Ground, and OVO Athletic Centre. We also provide fans in Toronto with incredible live music and entertainment events, as well as culinary experiences through our restaurants (e11even and RS) and clubs (Hot Stove Club, ScotiaClub, and Platinum Club). Through MLSE Foundation, we have invested over $45 million into Ontario communities since 2009, and with MLSE LaunchPad, we support youth facing barriers to use sport to realize their potential.

Our common purpose is to unite and empower our employees to create extraordinary moments for our fans and each other. Join our team!

MLSE seeks a strategic thinker with a revenue-driving mindset to join the Global Partnerships team. Reporting to the Director of Global Partnerships, this role focuses on building and developing partnerships for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC, and Argonauts. Our industry-leading Global Partnerships team is renowned for producing innovative marketing programs that elevate creativity and strategic impact.

The ideal candidate is a creative, energetic, and organized team player with a strong capacity for big ideas and business development. You should excel at identifying brands and categories not currently engaged by MLSE, generating prospects, and creating new relationships that help meet revenue targets.

If you are passionate about creating impact through sports marketing, we want to hear from you.

  1. Proactively develop new partnership revenue opportunities through prospecting, marketplace analysis, leveraging personal networks, and other means to identify potential partners.
  2. Innovate and build breakthrough marketing partnerships for new and existing MLSE partners.
  3. Initiate discussions with potential new partners (clients and agencies), understand their objectives and budget, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, including C-level executives.
  4. Manage client expectations with honesty and integrity.
  5. Provide thought leadership during the ideation phase; develop customized, integrated, and creative partnership proposals demonstrating insight into the client’s business and MLSE’s value.
  6. Lead presentations and negotiations with new prospects.
  7. Coordinate internal teams to develop and sell partnerships, creating advocates across the organization and unlocking new opportunities.
  8. Utilize data and research tools to identify prospects in new categories, aligning MLSE’s properties with prospect targets.
  9. Develop a deep understanding of partners’ or prospects’ businesses and environments to build mutually beneficial partnerships.
  10. Proactively address critical issues, demonstrate resilience, and adapt strategies as needed.
  11. Stay current with marketing trends, including digital, social media, experiential, print, and broadcast media, and bring creative ideas to the table.
  12. Achieve revenue targets and provide regular updates on progress.

Note: We understand you may not meet all qualifications. Please share relevant expertise and experience in your application.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a business-related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, strategy, business development, or partnership marketing; partnership sales experience is a strong asset.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and partnership principles and excellent client service skills.
  • Deep knowledge of digital media and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally.
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
