Position Summary

The Account Manager is an Inside Sales role responsible for serving customers via telephone, email, teams, and occasional visits, with respect and professionalism. The incumbent is accountable for dealing with customer sales, order completion, complaints, inquiries, and processing transactions. The Account Manager understands their role as company ambassador and provides a positive experience to all customers.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities and accountabilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Answer and direct incoming calls professionally and courteously.
  2. Emphasize product features, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales reports.
  3. Build and maintain strong customer relationships to meet their needs.
  4. Develop a referral network and generate new sales opportunities.
  5. Generate new customer accounts to increase revenue through outreach and cold-calling.
  6. Drive sales growth within targeted accounts and up-sell products and services based on customer needs.
  7. Handle inbound, unsolicited prospect calls and convert them into sales.
  8. Maintain accurate records including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices, and other documentation.
  9. Inform customers and co-workers of delivery requirements for orders and coordinate, if necessary, specific arrangements for deliveries as per the customer’s request.
  10. Represent the company and perform professional presentations or demonstrations of company products at professional shows and trade exhibitions if required.
  11. Collaborate with the Sales, Production, and Shipping department to resolve issues and to develop new ideas and strategies to improve customer service.
  12. Understand and adhere to the Company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to all employees.
  13. Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics, and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the Company.
  14. Participate in the Company’s quarterly inventory count.
  15. Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 2 years’ sales experience.
  2. Sales expertise within the steel service industry is an asset.
  3. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP, and Stratix.
  4. Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
