Specific Accountabilities
1. Academic Leadership and Administration
- Promotes and ensures teaching excellence to provide a successful learning experience for students.
- Provides academic leadership through curriculum development and accreditation processes, focusing on service, safety, and program delivery.
- Manages academic activities, including curriculum development, instructional methods, and standards to ensure consistency across programs.
- Ensures quality of academic offerings by monitoring and implementing sound policies and procedures.
- Champions diversity and supports an inclusive environment, including programs for aboriginal students, international students, newcomers, and learners with disabilities.
- Coordinates accreditation processes with external organizations and prepares programs for accreditation reviews.
- Manages Program Advisory Committee (PAC) processes, including recruitment and meetings.
- Oversees protocols for Prior Learning Assessment Reviews and quality assurance processes.
- Administers applied research projects and oversees Continuing Education/Extension quality assurance.
2. Resource Allocation
- Manages resource allocation and contributes to budget development, monitoring financial performance, and recommending adjustments.
- Applies for and manages development funds, and coordinates resource use among programs.
3. People Management
- Manages human resources, fostering a productive and inclusive environment.
- Oversees faculty assessment, performance standards, and addresses management issues.
- Ensures communication, safety, and staff development, maintaining a positive work environment.
4. Student Affairs
- Manages the student experience throughout the academic lifecycle.
- Develops recruitment, orientation, and success strategies, monitors attrition, and manages student conduct issues.
- Handles appeals and financial matters, and reviews transfer credit procedures.
5. Relationship Management
- Represents the program internally and externally, building relationships with stakeholders and community partners.
6. Strategic Planning
- Leads strategic initiatives, forecasts trends, and aligns planning with stakeholder needs.
- Contributes to funding proposals and human resource planning to achieve strategic goals.
