Cargill Ltd. in High River, Alberta, is hiring experienced meat cutters for full-time positions in a beef processing facility. Two shifts are available, with overtime as needed, and wages start around $26.25/hour up to $29.00/hour under the collective bargaining agreement.

Benefits commence after three months of continuous employment; candidates must have at least three years of meat cutting experience and secondary school completion. Health and safety are priorities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Debone, trim and prepare standard or specialized cuts of meats using knives.
• Cut and prepare precise products per client specifications.
• Operate knives and equipment safely; follow health and safety procedures.
• Maintain equipment sharpness and good condition per company standards.
• Maintain sanitation and personal cleanliness.
• Train junior employees and supervise other meat cutters.
• Perform other duties as required.

Main Duties:

• Working in a time sensitive process deboning, trimming and preparing standard / specialized cuts
  of meats using knives;
• Cutting, trimming and preparing precise products in accordance with client specifications;
• Working with specialized knives and equipment in accordance with workplace health and safety
  requirement as well as safe food handling practices.
• Maintaining equipment to ensure it is sharp and in good condition according to company standards;
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and personal cleanliness;
• Training for junior employees; and supervising other butchers/meat cutters
• Performing other duties as required consistent with the occupation

Employment requirements

• Completion of secondary school
• Minimum of three years meat cutter/knife experience required (Experience in detailed meat cutting for further added value )
• Previous experience in meat processing and packing environment using manual cutting utensils and band saws.
• Certificate of Meat Cutting Program (preferred)
