Job summary

Silent-Aire, part of Johnson Controls, seeks an Electrical Apprentice to support installation and wiring of electrical systems under Journeyperson supervision in an Alberta manufacturing environment.

You will work on conduit, panels, sensors and control devices with a focus on safety and code compliance, aiming toward Journeyperson certification. A high school diploma and Alberta AIT apprenticeship enrollment with 500+ hours of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as an Apprentice Electrician with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) and actively enrolled in an approved trade school program.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 500 hours of electrical experience.
• Experience in industrial, commercial or manufacturing environments preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical tools and equipment used in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate conduit, cable, electrical equipment, panels, sensors and control components in compliance with codes.
• Assist with construction and fabrication of control panels and rough- and finishing-wiring for control systems.
• Install interlocking wiring and perform wiring verification and checkout per codes and specs.
• Install electrical system components in line with Canadian Electrical Code and other standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical control circuits.
• Support material take-offs and identify required electrical equipment.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
• Review facility electrical plans and propose improvements for performance and efficiency.
• Test installed or modified equipment to verify proper operation.
• Carry out routine maintenance and maintain detailed maintenance records.
