Job summary

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited is seeking a Third Cook to join our kitchen team for a part-time 6-month contract. The role focuses on proper preparation, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Starting wage is $17.96 per hour with a benefits-conscious company culture and opportunities for development. Candidates should have basic knife skills, a secondary school diploma, and the ability to work long shifts in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• A secondary school diploma or 1 year related experience.
• Safe food handling course, knife handling skills.
• Able to obtain Category 2 Gaming Assistant registration with AGCO.
• Proven high level of Customer Service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Proper preparation and presentation of food with strict adherence to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized workspace per OHSA and Board of Health requirements.
• Assist with inventory and placing orders.
• Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner.
• Adhere to department quality standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Proper preparation and presentation of food with strict adherence to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work space in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the requirements of the Board of Health
• Assist with inventory and putting orders away
• Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner
• Adhere to departmental quality standards
• Perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring

• A secondary school diploma or a minimum of one-year related work experience
• Safe food handling course, knife handling skills
• The ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming and Commission of Ontario
• Proven high level of Customer Service
• The ability to work and excel in a fast-paced large volume business
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in hot, cold and humid environments
