Job summary

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Surgical Unit at Stratford General Hospital. You will contribute to pre- and post-operative care, monitor patients, administer medications, and coordinate with the surgical team to support safe patient flow.

This full-time position requires current RN licensure in Ontario, BLS certification, and experience in surgical nursing to ensure high-quality patient outcomes in a busy unit.

Qualifications

• Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BLS certificate required.
• Recent courses or in-services in Surgical Nursing.

ROLE

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

• Venepuncture - Initiation of Intravenous Therapy
• Central Venous/PIC Lines - care and maintenance, bloodletting and discontinuation
• Administration of Medications Below the Drip Chamber
• Glucose Monitoring
• Post-Operative PCA Pump
• Fluid and Electrolytes and Blood work
• Physical Assessment Course with good assessment skills
• TPN Management
• Enteral Feeding
• Chest Tube Management
• Wound packings and vacuum
• Demonstrated ability in patient education
• Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
• Clinical documentation using the Meditech Information System

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

• Recent clinical experience (minimum 2 years) in the areas of: Pre/Post-Operative Acute Care Surgery (including general surgery, plastics, vascular, orthopaedic, gynaecology, Urological and EENT) preferred
• Clinical Nurse Educators that offer on-site training
• Clinical Scholars available for on unit assistance and questions
