Job summary

Oakridge Landscape Contractors is seeking a skilled Mechanic to service and maintain trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment used in the landscape construction and maintenance industry. On-call shifts may be available during winter.

The successful candidate will diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety and operability before leaving the shop. Strong safety awareness is essential.

Qualifications

• 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification is required.
• Ontario Class G licence or higher is required.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, vehicles and equipment.
• Experience maintaining heavy equipment is an asset.
• Experience repairing trucks, trailers and related equipment.

Job description

Oakridge Landscape Contractors is currently recruiting a skilled Mechanic to service and maintain trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment used within the landscape construction and maintenance industry. This position is an integral part of our operations. On-call shifts may also be available during the winter season.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $37.85–$43.26 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
• Company-paid benefits after three months of employment.
• Company-matching RRSP program after one year of employment.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, dozers, and backhoes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and semi-annual inspections.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and fully operational before leaving the shop.
• Take immediate action to correct hazardous conditions and report safety concerns to management.
• Ensure all tools are maintained in safe operating condition.
• Apply red tags to damaged or unsafe tools and equipment in accordance with company policy.
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe at the end of each day.
• Store tools properly to prevent theft, damage, or misplacement.
• Inspect the shop fire extinguisher monthly and record the date and inspector’s initials on the inspection tag.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence or higher.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, vehicles, and equipment.
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment is considered an asset.
• Experience completing general truck, trailer, and equipment repairs.
• Strong understanding of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
