Job summary

Fuze HR Solutions seeks an experienced 2nd Class Operating Engineer for a Collingwood, Ontario facility. The role covers operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, RO water systems, and air compressors to support continuous production.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, you will ensure regulatory compliance and reliable utilities. This is a full-time, 12-hour shift position with benefits and on-site parking.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate of Qualification from TSSA.
  • 5+ years of experience as a 2nd Class Operating Engineer in a large industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Familiarity with Ontario regulations, including the Operating Engineers Act and Boiler & Pressure Vessels Act.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (days/nights) including weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Physically capable of standing, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, lifting and squatting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, air compressors, and related plant utilities.
  • Monitor plant utilities using SCADA and computerized systems.
  • Ensure reliable steam, compressed air, and RO water supply to production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and utility system issues to maintain uptime.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with TSSA standards and Ontario regulations.
  • Maintain accurate operating records and documentation.
  • Participate in TPM activities and support plant shutdowns.
  • Work independently on shift and respond to equipment issues.
  • Maintain safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

2nd Class Operating Engineer

Location: Collingwood, Ontario
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: 12-Hour Shifts – Days & Nights
Compensation: $48.74/hour + $2.00 shift prem on nights

Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced 2nd Class Operating Engineer to join a well-established industrial manufacturing facility in Collingwood, Ontario.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, this position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, compressed air systems and reverse osmosis water systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining critical plant utilities while ensuring compliance with TSSA requirements and Ontario regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operating Engineer who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting a continuous manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, air compressors, and associated plant utility equipment
  • Monitor and control plant utilities using SCADA and computerized systems
  • Ensure reliable supply of steam, compressed air, and reverse osmosis water to production
  • Troubleshoot equipment and utility system issues to maintain equipment in good operating condition
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and required repairs
  • Ensure compliance with TSSA standards, the Ontario Operating Engineers Act, and Boiler and Pressure Vessels regulations
  • Maintain accurate operating records and documentation
  • Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities as required
  • Support weekend and plant shutdown requirements
  • Work independently on shift and respond appropriately to equipment or operational issues
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
Required
  • Current 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate of Qualification from TSSA
  • 5+ years of experience as a 2nd Class Operating Engineer within a large industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with boilers and pressure vessels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Ontario regulations, including the Operating Engineers Act and Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance capabilities
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision
  • Ability and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as scheduled
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Physically capable of standing, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting, and squatting as required by the position
Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of air compressors and reverse osmosis systems, including operation and repair
  • Experience using SCADA or other computerized plant control systems
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience within a continuous-process industrial or manufacturing environment
