Winland Foods Canada Inc is seeking an Operating Engineer to operate, test, and maintain boilers, compressors and related equipment at our Stoney Creek facility. The role supports seven-day plant coverage with occasional overtime and requires a 3rd Class license.

You will perform preventive maintenance, coordinate with maintenance teams, and log daily activities to ensure peak efficiency. Must have strong mechanical aptitude and reliable, detail‑driven work habits.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Operating Engineer 3rd Class with preference for 3–5 years in related setting.
  • Water/wastewater plant operator certification is an asset.
  • Food manufacturing or process facility experience is an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting utility equipment and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate steam boilers, compressors and ancillary equipment.
  • Plan and schedule preventive and contract maintenance on utility equipment.
  • Perform preventive and emergency maintenance on system components.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing teams to optimize performance.
  • Log daily work and failure causes for prompt corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation for powerhouse equipment in a food facility.

Job description

To maintain the safe and efficient operation of powerhouse and plant utility equipment. The incumbent will be a member of a team operating, testing and maintaining boilers, air compressors, pumps and ancillary equipment. There is a requirement to work a flexible work week to enable seven day plant coverage. Some overtime may be required.

Schedule: 8 hour shifts + occasional overtime Monday to Friday shifts + occasional weekends rotating days & afternoons (some nights) Work Location: 944 Highway 8, Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: $49.12 per hour Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement Plan with match, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Life Insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Roles & Responsibilities:

Safely operate steam boilers, compressors and ancillary equipment. Proactively plan and schedule contract maintenance on utility equipment. Perform preventive and emergency maintenance on steam and utility system components. Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing teams to ensure all utility and processing equipment is operating at peak efficiency. Log daily work effort and failure causes for prompt corrective measures to be taken. Maintain powerhouse equipment records as required for a food processing facility. Ongoing training on new equipment and maintenance practices is a requirement. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list of all tasks. Additional tasks and duties may be assigned from time to time as necessitated by business needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Licensed Operating Engineer 3rd Class a MUST 3-5 years of experience preferred Water/wastewater treatment plant operator certification an asset Food manufacturing experience an asset Experience with HVAC systems and non- ammonia cooling systems an asset Experience in troubleshooting and repair of utility equipment is a key skill Good verbal and written communication skills are required Must be dependable, attention to detail, be computer literate, creative, and have planning and organizational skills Must possess sound judgment and decision-making skills and be able to work under minimal supervision. Candidate must show initiative and cooperate effectively in a multi-skilled environment.

Physical Activity / Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Bend/twist, push/pull as needed to complete work tasks Work in a warm temperature during summer months
