Job summary

Lakeridge Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacy team at Ajax-Pickering. You will be responsible for the technical aspects of drug distribution and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualified candidates will have RPHT registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists or be within 6 months of registration, plus CCAPP-accredited training. Experience with unit-dose dispensing and pharmacy automation is preferred.

Qualifications

• RPHT registration with Ontario College of Pharmacists within 6 months of posting.
• Graduation from a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician program within 6 months of registration.
• Inpatient dispensing knowledge—traditional and unit dose.
• Pharmacy automation knowledge including unit dose packaging and automated cabinets preferred.
• Demonstrated accuracy, organizational, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Team-oriented with collaborative work style.
• MS Office proficiency (Word/Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle technical aspects of drug distribution and ensure patient safety.
• Ensure accuracy, quality, integrity, and timeliness of pharmaceutical product release.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician will be an integral member of the Pharmacy team and will be accountable for the technical aspects of drug distribution. The Pharmacy Technician will work to ensure patient safety and for the accuracy, quality, integrity and timeliness of pharmaceutical product and release.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT);
• Graduate of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program and within 6 months of registering with OCP;
• Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes- traditional and unit dose;
• Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred;
• Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills;
• Proven effective verbal and written communication;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
• Computer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word and Excel are preferred;

• Must have satisfactory performance record; and
