Job summary

School District 91 Nechako Lakes seeks a Learning Support Worker at Decker Lake Elementary. The continuing position starts as soon as possible and is 4.5 hours per day, five days per week.

You will collaborate with teachers and specialists to support individual students, assist in delivering programs, and participate as a member of the school-based team to advocate for learners.

Qualifications

• Requires Grade 12 and an Education Assistant Certificate.
• Minimum 6 months of experience with children/youth who have disabilities.
• WHMIS 2015 certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work with school and district staff to develop the individual student’s potential under supervision.
• Provide assistance to teachers in delivering regular or alternate programs for groups or individuals.
• Act as an advocate for students and as a member of the school-based team when required.

Summary

• Provides assistance to teachers and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs with a group or individual students


• Functions as an advocate for the students and as a member of the school-based team where required

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)


• Completion of an Education Assistant Certificate program


• 6 months of experience working with children/youth who have intellectual/behavioral or multiple disabilities


• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures
