Job summary

The City of Maple Ridge is seeking energetic Aquatic Services Attendants to support programs at a supervised facility. You will help with pool features, waterslides, and assist with swim lessons and aquatic activities.

Candidates should have Grade 10 education and relevant experience; Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Pool certification plus CPR C/AED are preferred. This is an auxiliary role with flexible hours and growth opportunities.

Become an Aquatic Services Attendant! Are you ready to dive into a fun, fast-paced job? We’re looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and safety-savvy individuals to join our team as Aquatic Services Attendants!

In this role, you will be providing support to programs and services at a supervised aquatic facility. The position oversees the safe use of pool features, such as the waterslide, lead pool birthday parties, and aquatic games and activities. The Aquatic Services Attendant will support swim lessons and aquatic programs, help set up equipment and supplies, and step in with basic first aid emergencies and performs minor cleaning duties. This is a hands-on, people-focused role where your energy, attentiveness, and enthusiasm will shine. You’ll work under the guidance of a supervisor who will support your growth and evaluate your performance based on service quality, safety, and your ability to make each patron’s visit a great one.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Some knowledge and familiarity with aquatic programs and services.
  • Ability to make decisions and enforce rules and regulations in a confident and tactful manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive and diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to be creative and lead games for a variety of age groups and abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public and other aquatic staff in emergency situations.
  • Ability to provide safe operation and supervision of play equipment and features, such as waterslides, pool toys and games.
  • Ability to perform duties for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively perform minor water rescue.
  • Ability to work in a humid environment and under varying weather conditions.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 10 Education and some related experience working with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES
  • Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross (current within 2 years) or National Lifeguard Pool (current within 2 years)
  • Standard/Intermediate First Aid with CPR C & AED (current within 3 years)
HOURS OF WORK

This is an auxiliary position with no ongoing regular schedule of hours.

A Police Information Check will be required as a condition of employment for successful candidates. (Note: This is not required as part of the application process but will be needed upon consideration for employment.)
