Job summary

A leading non-profit organization in Surrey is seeking a temporary Outreach & Housing Worker / Case Manager. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outreach and housing services to individuals facing housing crises, with a focus on crisis management, advocacy, and support networks. This role requires a Class 5 BC Driver's License and experience in housing support or similar social services.

Position : Outreach & Housing Worker / Case Manager (temporary until March 31, 2026)

Location : South Surrey

Hours : Monday to Friday, 9 : 00am – 4 : 30pm

Salary : $25.75 / hour

Start Date : ASAP

We are looking for a temporary Outreach & Housing Worker / Case Manager to join our Housing team! Ideally, this individual must be an independent self-starter with a Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Description Of Position

Reporting to the Housing Support Services Manager, the Outreach and Housing Worker position is an employee of Sources Community Resources. This position ends March 31, 2026 and may be extended with renewal of the funding contract regarding this position. This position provides direct one-to-one comprehensive outreach and housing services for people currently undergoing the experience of becoming un-housed, released from hospital or living in the community with challenging health concerns that create risk of homelessness, or are currently homeless. The Outreach and Housing Worker provides support through crisis, working with clients to manage crisis, strategizing solutions and next steps in accessing resources, services, shelter, housing and supports to assist the clients in achieving their housing stabilization plans. Addresses challenges with landlords or other services that may be contributing to the crisis. Provides written communications on behalf of the client; negotiates and mediates for the clients. Ensures access to all pertinent services and encourages development of support networks; promotes community relations, partnerships with project partners, and other human serving organizations and public. Service includes providing support, information, referrals, completion of forms and applications with Income Assistance and disability benefits. This position includes work with agency partners to assist with system navigation and providing services to individuals accessing Overdose Prevention Services and other resources. This position includes driving a society vehicle with clients in the vehicle, as needed. This position includes work with agency partners and community partners in collaboration.

Reporting to : Housing Support Services Manager

General Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach support to people in their crisis location & community.
  • Collaborate with the client in determining needs and identifying barriers the person faces to sustain or obtaining housing.
  • Help the client in creating their housing and stabilization plan for reducing barriers to sustaining or obtaining housing.
  • Help with communications with landlords, navigating complex process, linking clients to other supportive networks and agencies such as mental health and health care services; provide ongoing contact and support in ensuring action.
  • Maintain complete and accurate statistics and records for all project activities. Meet all reporting requirements.
  • Drive clients to view housing and access other services.
  • Assist clients to access treatment, healthcare, Overdose Prevention Services, and other related services as needed.

Program-specific Responsibilities

  • Operating a mini van to help facilitate access to services and connect with clients.
  • Work in a semi-independent environment including arriving and departing on time at the work site.
  • Work with your program partner and collaborate with community partners.

  • Lifting / Pulling / Pushing - 25%, Walking / Moving Around - 50%, Sitting - 50%, Time Spent Outside - 25%, Driving - 25%

Cognitive Demands Of Job

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-years post-secondary education and 2-years housing worker experience preferred.
  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems.
  • Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training may be accessed through Sources after hire) is mandatory.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and clear driver's abstract is mandatory.
