Job summary

Teck Resources’ Highland Valley Copper operations in Logan Lake, BC are offering an 8-month co‑op for engineering students. This on‑site role focuses on project coordination, data updates, quantity take‑offs, and cost analysis while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance safety and efficiency.

You will gain hands‑on experience supporting planning, design, and execution of engineering and capital projects on an active mine site, with strong safety culture and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Engineering student pursuing a degree relevant to mining/engineering.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate clearly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and operate vehicles in varied conditions.
  • Experience with MS Office and data analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, design, and execution of engineering and capital projects across site operations.
  • Coordinate projects on active mine sites, including scope and scheduling.
  • Assist with budgeting, cost estimating, and progress reporting.
  • Maintain project documentation and prepare internal communications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve safety and efficiency.

About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Role Overview

For this position we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Engineering. This exciting opportunity will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to handle challenges that may arise at a large scale mining operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental policies, procedures, and standards
  • Actively participate in Teck's health, safety, and environmental programs to help ensure everyone goes home safe and healthy every day
  • Maintain project documentation, update project tracking systems, and prepare reports and internal communications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the planning, design, and execution of engineering and capital projects across site operations
  • Assist with coordinating projects on active mine sites, including scope development, scheduling, cost control, and progress reporting
  • Support project budgeting, cost estimating, forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets
  • Assist with contractor coordination, procurement activities, construction planning, and monitoring project progress to support successful project execution
  • Contribute to project risk assessments, constructability reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and business processes
  • Research, evaluate, and implement innovative technologies and engineering solutions to improve operational efficiency and project outcomes
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Engineering
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to managenumerousprojects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted work environment, with a willingness to work outdoors, and able tooperatevehicles in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate sophisticated ideas to all levels
  • Previouswork experience in a technical or engineering environment is an asset
  • Experience with form design, macros, and data analysis is an asset
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite® of applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D would be an asset
  • Able to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team
  • Consistenttrack recordto learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op isrequired

Pay Range

Pay Range: CAD $4833 - $5592 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
