Job summary

Teck Resources Limited's Highland Valley Copper operations in Logan Lake, BC is offering a 12-month co-op position starting January 2027 for students in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering. You'll support KPI tracking, analysis, and reporting while contributing to efficiency and safety improvements on site.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program, able to commute or relocate for the term, and possess strong communication skills, familiarity with PowerBI and MS Office,

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering
  • Motivated self-starters with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
  • Willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate sophisticated ideas to all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and with PowerBI
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co‑op is required

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Participate in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
  • Assist in the tracking, analysis and reporting of Key Performance Indicators within Mine Operations
  • Support the Mine Operations department in the equipment selection process, including the operational strategy creation and development of the business justification
  • Identify areas of improvement and help build out and support continuous improvement initiatives targeting improvements
  • Contribute to projects sought at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving operational safety
  • Collaborate with multi‑functional teams to help implement the best procedures, streamline processes, and improve efficiency
  • Expand experience working directly within the Mine Operations team on the implementation of mine plans with a focus on safety and efficiency

About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Engineering. This exciting opportunity will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to handle challenges that may arise at a large-scale mining operation. This is a great opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting mine operations through KPI tracking, analysis, and reporting, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce costs, and collaborate with cross functional teams to improve operational performance and safety across the site. Candidates must be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution for the full duration of the co‑op term and plan to return to their studies upon completion for at least one academic term. If you are not currently located near the work location, you must be willing to commute or temporarily relocate for the duration of the term. A valid study permit and studentship letter will be required where applicable.
