Job summary

Weeneebayko Area Health Authority seeks a part-time Geriatric Dietitian to join Clinical Services in Moose Factory, ON. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nutrition plans of care, collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team, and ensure nutrition standards are met in a remote northern setting.

The role supports Aboriginal health priorities with opportunities to influence nutrition programs and participate in audits.

Qualifications

  • Accredited 4-year or equivalent degree with appropriate courses in sciences and human nutrition, administration and humanities
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nutrition or Food Science
  • Accredited Dietitians of Canada Dietetic Internship Program
  • Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (or eligible for membership)
  • Completion of Dietetic Internship or equivalent supervised practical training
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination
  • Preference will be given to Cree from the Mushkeogwuk Territory

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nutrition plans of care
  • Organize, prioritize and complete workload within time constraints
  • Work as an integral member of an inter-disciplinary team
  • Maintain established nutrition and food service standards
  • Direct, evaluate and motivate clients to assure compliance with nutrition requirements
  • Work with rural and remote communities is an asset
  • Self-motivated individual who enjoys challenges
  • Independent but participates well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Perform swallowing assessments; assess for texture/ consistency modifications in the diet as needed
  • Calculate requirements/suggest changes in conjunction with hospitalist to enteral feeding regimes
  • Assist in diet therapy modification(s) for Elders
  • Initiate special diet orders as prescribed by physicians in order to meet patient needs ...
  • Implement and maintain the Canadian Geriatric Nutrition Program for the Region
  • Advise the Dietary Manager on therapeutic nutrition plans established for patients
  • Assist with Nutritional Audits to measure patient compliance and acceptance of plans
  • Supports health by interpreting scientific, medical and nutrition evidence into practical information for the individual, family, caregiver, multidisciplinary health team and community
  • Establish, review, and evaluate annual work plan, including a summary of budget requirements and learning plan

  • Advise the Dietary Manager on therapeutic nutrition plans established for patients
  • Assist with Nutritional Audits to measure patient compliance and acceptance of plans
  • Supports health by interpreting scientific, medical and nutrition evidence into practical information for the individual, family, caregiver, multidisciplinary health team and community
