Job summary

Edmonton Catholic Schools offers a Spanish Bilingual program at seven sites serving over 1,000 students. We are accepting applications for the 2026/2027 school year, with interviews conducted throughout the calendar year for teaching positions.

Successful candidates will demonstrate fluency in Spanish across listening, reading, speaking and writing. Hires may apply for internal opportunities or be placed into a contract position based on credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education Degree required.
• Alberta Teaching Certificate required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Catholic unless specialized in listed areas (CTS/CTF, Indigenous Languages, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Spanish Bilingual program across listening, reading, speaking and writing.
• Attend interviews year-round; placement into contract positions aligned with credentials as needed.

Job description

Edmonton Catholic Schools offers Spanish Bilingual programming at seven (7) sites, serving over 1000 students. We are now accepting applications for our Spanish Bilingual program for the 2026/2027 school year. Applications are accepted and interviews are conducted for teaching positions throughout the calendar year. The successful candidate will demonstrate fluency in Spanish based on the four language domains (listening, reading, speaking, and writing). Once hired, successful candidates will have the opportunity to apply for internal contact opportunities or be placed directly into a contract position that is aligned with their credentials, based on the needs of the division.

Edmonton Catholic Schools requires all teachers (substitutes and contract teachers) to be Catholic unless specialized in the following areas:

• Career and Technology Studies (CTS) and Career and Technology Foundations (CTF)
• Lived Indigenous Experiences
• Languages (Cree, French, Spanish, and Ukrainian)
• Music (Elementary and Secondary)

Interested candidates that have a Bachelor of Education Degree, a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate, and are bilingual in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply. The following application documents are required:
