Job summary

Muskoka Bay Resort is seeking a skilled Cook to join our culinary team. The 1st Cook will prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards set by Muskoka Bay Resort.

This role requires a strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals to our guests. The position is on-site in Muskoka Bay Resort with potential for multiple shifts and involvement in events.

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service establishment.

Responsibilities

  • May act as lead cook on line in preparing meals to order.
  • Maintain care of equipment using preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times using proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Review menu cycles and check supplies needed for all meals and special events with the Chef and Sous Chef.
  • Uphold high quality menu options that meet and exceed expectations.
  • Must be available to work all shifts.
  • Practice hygienic food-handling, preparation and serving techniques.
  • Prepare a variety of goods and items needed for special events.
  • Oversee second cooks and dishwashers to ensure team is working together.
  • Ensure that all prep work and products are lined up for upcoming production.
  • Complete food tracking worksheets when necessary.
  • Maintain commitment to excellence in carrying out production responsibilities.
  • Work with Sous Chef and Chef in supervising, receiving all goods and their proper storage.
  • Organize coolers daily ensuring all items are wrapped, labeled and dated.
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Passion for food and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences to customers.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The 1 st Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards set by Muskoka Bay Resort.
