Job summary

Lion Healthcare is hiring a 1ON1 - Resident Care & Support Aide in Muskoka, Ontario. Compensation is $19.50 per hour with casual, part-time and full-time shift options. Candidates must have complete compliance documentation before starting shifts.

Responsibilities include one-on-one supervision and engagement of residents, supporting emotional well-being, reporting changes to nursing staff, and assisting with activities, mobility, and safety. Weekend flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• Compliance documents required before starting shifts (VSC, TB test, COVID-19 vaccination proof, Influenza vaccination proof, Security Guard License, CPR & 1st Aid, N95 mask fit test, WHMIS, WHSA, government ID, 3 references).
• Ability to work weekends when required
• Compassionate, reliable and professional with good teamwork and communication skills

• Observe residents and report changes to nursing staff or PSWs.

• Maintain safety and cleanliness, and assist with PPE organization during outbreaks.

• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - issued within the last 6 months
• 2-Step TB Test - issued within the last 6 months
• COVID-19 Vaccination Proof
• Influenza Vaccination Proof (current season)
• Security Guard License
• CPR and 1st Aid
• N95 Mask Fit Test
• WHMIS Certificate
• Worker Health & Safety Awareness (WHSA) Certificate
• Government-issued ID
• 3 Professional References

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one supervision, engagement, and companionship to residents through activities such as conversation, walking, reading, games, television, or arts and crafts
• Support residents' emotional well-being and personhood by offering comfort, reassurance, and meaningful interaction
• Observe residents closely and report any changes in behaviour, mood, or physical condition to nursing staff or PSWs
• Assist residents with approved activities, mobility, and gentle exercises as directed by the care team
• Use Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) techniques to support residents experiencing responsive behaviours
• Maintain continuous supervision of the assigned resident to ensure safety and prevent incidents
• Complete required observation documentation and update DOS binders at scheduled intervals
• Assist with maintaining a clean and safe environment, including high-touch cleaning during outbreaks and supporting PPE organization
