Job summary

Dilico Anishinabek Family Care in Canada seeks a Residential Worker to establish a safe, nurturing family setting in a children’s residential program, under the Alternative Care 4 Manager. The role emphasizes parent-model care aligned with the program philosophy and learning environment.

The position is full-time, with 32.5 hours/ week, and requires a Human Services credential, two years in residential care, and flexible hours including on-call travel.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree in a Human Services program.
  • Two years of experience in a residential care setting with Indigenous youth preferred.
  • First Nation, Inuk, or Metis Elder/Knowledge Keeper with relevant cultural knowledge is an asset.
  • Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening required.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certificate required.
  • Provide proof of TB test, MMR, and tetanus vaccines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel on-call as required.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle and $1,000,000 liability insurance.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Alternative Care 4 Manager or designate, the Residential Worker is responsible for establishing a safe nurturing family setting environment in a children’s residential setting. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide parent model care for a child that is consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals, and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

Qualifications
  • The candidate must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree in a Human Services program.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Anishinabek Children and Youth in a residential care setting.
  • Preferably Child Welfare experience
  • Candidates without the specific education qualifications but have experience and skills that are directly related to the duties of the staff person, the program provided by the Alternative Care 4 Manager and the needs of the youth serviced by the Alternative Care 4 Manager.
  • A First Nation, Inuk or Metis Elder, Knowledge Keeper, Healer, Medicine Person, Traditional Person, or Cultural Person who possesses, in that capacity, cultural knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to the program.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search with a vulnerable sector screening
  • Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • Provide proof of a Negative TB Skin test, MMR vaccinations, and current tetanus vaccine.
  • Be able to complete the Pre-Service Education Requirement.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel regularly work on an on-call basis as determined by the Alternative Care 4 Manager in relation to service requirements.
  • Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle and have $1,000,000 liability vehicle insurance.
