Summary

The Business Office & Supply Chain Director is a senior leadership role accountable for integrating customer program management, business office operations, site manufacturing execution, and global end-to-end supply chain strategies within a large or complex site environment. This role maintains total business and operational responsibility for delivering world-class customer execution, driving financial performance (revenue, PCM, cash cycle, and cost reductions), and leading multi-departmental indirect functions including program management, materials, planning, purchasing, warehousing, logistics, engineering, and quality.

Serving as the primary senior leader interface with strategic customer leadership, the Director investigates and resolves complex, high-impact operational and supply chain challenges. This role requires participation in corporate strategic planning, sets multi-site operational policies, drives Lean/Six Sigma initiatives across extended supply chains, and ensures robust internal controls and regulatory compliance.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • CFT & Business Office Strategic Leadership: Directs a multi-functional Customer Focused Team (CFT) comprising Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing, alongside extensive manufacturing operations required to deliver customer business commitments.
  • End-to-End Supply Chain Management: Directs site-wide and multi-SCM functions including, internal parts flow, international logistics, import/export regulatory compliance, non-production purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Financial & Operational Performance: Accountable for complete financial performance (P&L, pricing, service billing, A/R, PCM, and cash cycle optimization). Establishes and manages operational budgets, financial forecasts, capital investments, and cost-reduction programs.
  • Strategic Planning & Innovation: Collaborates with Sales, Business Development, Global Account Teams, and GCU Leadership to identify and win new business. Implements advanced supply chain technologies (e.g., Advanced Planning Systems, warehouse management software upgrades) and best-of-breed industry processes.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Serves as the senior customer contact, independently representing the site/company during negotiations, customer reviews, and strategic operational alignment initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Champions Lean and Six Sigma methodology across the extended supply chain (vendors, internal site, customer). Monitors operational execution via MOR and core key metrics, rapidly executing corrective action plans for out-of-target conditions.
  • Talent and Performance Management: Directly and indirectly manages subordinate functional managers and specialized teams. Establishes objectives, evaluates performance, mentors staff, oversees compensation/promotions, and drives site-wide employee satisfaction. Ensures ISO compliance, external audit readiness, and SCM business controls.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Manufacturing & Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of high-reliability electronic manufacturing processes, tooling, production flow, and equipment.
  • Global Supply Chain Mastery: Comprehensive expertise in global distribution, logistics, freight optimization, inventory management, import/export regulations, and supplier contract negotiations.
  • Financial & Strategic Acumen: Strong capability in managing P&L, PCM, A/R, budgeting, cash flow cycles, and customer commercial agreements.
  • Executive Communication & Stakeholder Alignment: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead controversial discussions, negotiate contracts, and align internal/external senior leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Extensive experience in Lean, and Six Sigma implementation across complex site and supplier ecosystems.
  • Systems & Technology Proficiency: Solid understanding of IT concepts, enterprise resource planning (ERP), Advanced Planning Systems (APS), and integrated business applications.
  • Cross-Functional & Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor diverse cross-functional teams, multi-site workgroups, and department managers in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required (including overnight).
Typical Experience
  • 11 to 14+ years of progressively responsible experience in electronic manufacturing, operations, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in program management and 2 years in operations, engineering, supply chain, or finance. Demonstrated track record of leading managers and large-scale operational functions.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience). Master's degree/MBA or professional certifications (APICS CSCP/CPIM, PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) preferred.
