Job summary

Near North District School Board is hiring an Educational Assistant in the West Region to provide direct support to high needs students across multiple schools as part of a Regional Flex itinerant role.

Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, you'll work with classroom teachers, the central behavioural support team, and therapists to implement programming and ensure smooth transitions between settings. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field.
• Experience supporting high needs students in diverse settings.
• Knowledge of ABA, behaviour management, and augmentative communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to high needs students in multiple settings as regional itinerant staff.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, central behavioural support, and therapists to implement programs.
• Assist with student transitions between programs and settings.

L ocation: West Region: Parry Sound and Surrounding Communities including Britt & MacTier

RegionalFlex Role:Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, this itinerant position, will involve providing direct support to high needs students in all areas of exceptionality moving into the region mid-year or transitioning from one program or setting to another. School placements will be determined by Special Education Coordinators and Principals.Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.

Qualifications:

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities
• Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies includingABA(Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems,CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication
• Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transitionand/orimplement programmingin consultation withclassroomteacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapistsi.e. speech, sensory, occupational,physiotherapy
• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team
  

Rate of Pay:

$28.44 per hour - $33.38 per hour
