Job summary

Superior-Greenstone District School Board is seeking a dedicated On-Call Occasional Teacher (DOT) to support B. A. Parker Public School and Marjorie Mills Public School.

The teacher will be based at one of the two schools and will fill in when staff are absent. The DOT role follows QECO guidelines, with mileage for travel, scheduling up to five days in advance, and potential on-call duties in emergencies. Designers of lesson plans may be paid at the appropriate grid rate.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification, in good standing
• Valid Diver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff who are absent by filling in as a Dedicated Occasional Teacher
• Be based at B. A. Parker Public School or Marjorie Mills Public School and report daily to the designated site
• On-call in emergencies up to 1 extra instructional period
• Travel between assigned schools with mileage paid and commuting time allowed
• Schedule assignments up to 5 days in advance
• Design lesson plans for assigned duties and be paid at the appropriate grid rate

\"NEW\" Dedicated Teacher Position (DOT) - B.A. Parker Public School & Marjorie Mills Public School

The Dedicated Occasional Teacher is a new role within SGDSB that will support B. A. Parker Public School and Marjorie Mills Public School. The Teacher will be based out of B. A. Parker Public School or Marjorie Mills Public School and will be used to support teaching staff who are absent. This role will follow the guidance below as a trial position for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year.

1. Regardless of years experience a DOT will be paid according to Step 1 (year one) of their category placement (1,2,3,4) according to QECO.
2. DOT's shall be entitled to Leave Benefits as per Article C9 (LTO) positions.
3. A DOT's schedule workday shall not exceed an Occasional Teacher's workday
4. A DOT shall report to their designated work site each work day and and for each PD day to receive and execute their assigned duties.
5. In the event that no other OT coverage is available on any particular work day, a DOT may be assigned to provide ON-CALL in an emergency situation; up to 1 period of additional instructional time.
6. Any DOT who needs to travel between their assigned homeschool and another school shall be:a) paid mileage as per the Boards mileage policy b)be allowed time to commute safely between sites.
7. A) A DOT may be scheduled to work for a teacher once the available work has been posted to the OT List for at least 4 days first OR is closer than 3 days from the assignment date B) A DOT may be scheduled to work up to a maximum of 5 days in advance
8. A DOT is given an assignment where they are required to design lesson plans, they will be paid their appropriate grid rate as per Article 12.
