Job summary

Niagara Health is seeking a Corporate Pharmacy Manager to lead system-wide pharmacy deliverables and oversee resources across multiple sites. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and aligns activities with Niagara Health's strategic plan.

Based at the Niagara Falls site with travel across sites, the role demands strong leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication management and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Part A Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years continuous previous hospital pharmacy experience within the last 8-10 years.

  • Providing leadership and oversight for pharmacy purchasing, medication procurement, inventory control, and supply chain management, including strategies to mitigate medication shortages and recalls.
  • Providing direction, making & implementing decisions related to compounding activities, standards. The manager will collaborate with and provide leadership directly to the Compounding Supervisor(s)
  • Ensuring accountability for a safe medication-use system through incident analysis, evaluation, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives

Your Role:

As a member of the Niagara Health Pharmacy Management Team, the Corporate Pharmacy Manager will provide strong leadership in system-wide Pharmacy deliverables. They will lead various activities and manage and monitor resources (human, financial and capital). Additionally, the Manager will ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists Hospital Pharmacy standards, Accreditation Canada Medication Management Standards along with licensing, professional regulatory, safety standards, and laws. They will align these activities with Niagara Health's strategic plan, relevant legislation, and multi-union collective agreements. This role is based at Niagara Falls Site and involves travel across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing direction, making & implementing decisions related to compounding activities, standards. The manager will collaborate with and provide leadership directly to the Compounding Supervisor(s)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years continuous previous hospital pharmacy experience within the last 8-10 years
  • Advanced health-related degree and/or completion of a pharmacy residency program preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NAPRA Professional Competencies, CSHP standards and guidelines, OCP Standards of Practice, OCP Hospital Pharmacy Assessment Criteria, and Accreditation Canada Medication Management Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital formulary management, pharmacy purchasing and supply chain principles, and applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development, fiscal planning, and financial management, with a proven ability to monitor and control expenditures in line with organizational goals and priorities
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, cost analysis, and variance analysis, with the ability to make data-driven decisions to ensure budget adherence and optimize resource allocation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management principles and practices
  • Proven ability to lead, engage, and develop teams while fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and build effective relationships with internal and external partners
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and a unionized environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
