Job summary

Niagara Health in Welland is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (temporary full-time) to support the Medical/Surgical Combined (4th Floor) on the Welland site. Applicants must hold current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BCLS, and recent medication administration experience.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• One year experience in full scope of practice as RPN in a healthcare setting.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Current medication administration experience within the last two years.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in enhanced nursing skills within last two years.
• Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy Initiation and IV pumps.
• Knowledge of CVADs, CADD pumps, VAC therapy and enteral feeds.
• Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient care.
• Commitment to patient-centred care.
• Ability to work in a collaborative total patient care model.
• Commitment to patient and family education and promoting health and wellness.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centred care and high professional standards, the Registered Practical Nurse will provide care through the therapeutic application of skills, knowledge, abilities and nursing standards, while collaborating with other healthcare team members. The objective of the Registered Practical Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. Shift rotations are subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• One year experience working to the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse in a healthcare setting
• Current BCLS certification
• Current medication administration experience within the last two years
