K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District No. 83 is seeking an experienced Music Teacher to cover Len Wood Middle School and Silver Creek Elementary School on a temporary basis through June 30, 2027.

The role begins as a Priority Music TTOC, filling dispatch requests across the district for elementary to secondary levels. The successful candidate will teach Elementary Music (K-6), General Music 6, and Band 7/8, hold a Bachelor of Music or equivalent, and a valid BC teaching certificate

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent.
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework.

Responsibilities

• Teach Elementary Music (K-6) and General Music 6; Band 7/8.
• Fill daily dispatch requests as a Priority Music TTOC across the district.
• Plan and execute school-wide concerts and events.
• Use diverse instructional strategies and assessments to support learners.
• Collaborate with staff, students and parents to promote the music program.

Job description

952 FTE Music Teacher at Len Wood Middle School and Silver Creek Elementary School.

This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to June 30, 2027 to cover an upcoming leave of absence.

Prior to the start of the leave, you will work as a Priority Music TTOC. A priority District Music TTOC works as a TTOC filling daily dispatch requests created by absent teachers and when needed, fills short-term vacancies. The teacher is prioritized for music vacancies but will also fill other vacancies when needed. This position requires that successful applicants are available to fill dispatches at all levels and schools throughout the district: Elementary, Middle, Secondary.

This assignment consists of the following: Elementary Music (K-6) , General Music 6 and Band 7/8.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent;
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
• Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework.

• evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents;
• demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
• working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for the Fine Arts;
• commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
• ability to teach ukulele, recorder, guitar, orff, dance and choir;
• demonstrated ability to work collegially as part of a school staff;
• comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events;
• ability to relate effectively to all elementary school students;
• ability to promote support for a school's Music program;
• successful recent experience working with students with special needs;
• current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology in the Music classroom.
