Job summary

The District Administration Office is seeking an Itinerant Music Teacher (Elementary K-7) for a 1.0 FTE assignment, commencing September 1, 2026. The role will involve teaching across elementary schools within the district.

Applicants must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate in good standing and have Elementary Education with a major/minor in music. Kodaly and/or Orff training and strong singing abilities are an asset.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be in good standing.
• Elementary Education with major/minor in music.
• Recent successful experience as an Elementary Music Teacher.

Responsibilities

• Teach music across elementary grades K-7 as an itinerant teacher.

POSITION: Itinerant Music Teacher

ASSIGNMENT: Music - Elementary (K-7)

FTE: 1.0

LOCATION: District Administration Office

EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026 and continuing

Basic Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch AND possesses one or more of the following:

Training Specifications: Elementary Education with major/minor in music

Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience as an Elementary Music Teacher

A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff

Additional Qualifications:

• Training/skill in the Kodaly method and/or the Orff approach to music instruction
• Strong singing skills

Other:

Own transportation for travel between schools is necessary - mileage reimbursed as per the Collective Agreement

The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116,190 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
