Job description

School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Liǧʷiɫdaxʷ people. School District 72 is looking for a temporary (with possibility of continuing) 0.5 FTE Occupational Therapist to join our team of professionals in our Inclusive Education Department who strive to bring the district's learning beliefs to life.

School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students.

Bring your Expertise

• A bachelor of science in occupational therapy.
• Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
• Previous pediatric experience.
• Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders, multiple disabilities, and feeding concerns.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a team approach to meeting the needs of students.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, students and parents and be able to take a leadership role in the training of staff involved in the student's program.
• Ability to manage a complex caseload.
• A good understanding and familiarity with computer technology.
• Knowledge of adaptive technology is an asset.
• A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for travel between schools.

The starting full-time salary for these teaching positions range from $63,670 to $116,190. Placement on a salary scale is subject to verification of experience and certification and will be done in accordance with the current collective agreement.
