Job description

Join a technology-driven environment where business analysis and insurance expertise come together to deliver effective digital solutions. As a Technical Business Analyst specializing in Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance, you will lead requirements gathering and support the delivery of business-critical applications and system enhancements. You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and senior leaders to translate complex underwriting and operational needs into clear functional specifications. From initial analysis through testing, deployment, and ongoing support, you will contribute across the full software development life cycle. You will also help improve legacy systems, resolve production issues, and develop technical documentation and training resources. This remote opportunity is suited to an experienced analyst who combines strong analytical thinking, insurance domain knowledge, and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation of business and functional requirements for projects and system enhancements.
  • Define system scope and objectives based on business needs, existing processes, application capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate potential solution options, assess feasibility and cost-benefit considerations, and recommend appropriate approaches.
  • Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and senior management to maintain alignment throughout delivery.
  • Translate business requirements into functional design documents and contribute to technical design, UI specifications, wireframes, and process models.
  • Participate throughout the software development life cycle, including requirements definition, design, prototyping, testing, implementation, and application support.
  • Coordinate or support quality assurance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test planning, execution, defect tracking, and validation of business outcomes.
  • Support production deployment, go-live activities, smoke testing, post-implementation reviews, and operational handover.
  • Investigate production issues, analyze root causes, advocate for business users, and coordinate defect resolution through deployment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Property and Casualty insurance, underwriting processes, insurance products, and related system implementations.
  • Analyze legacy applications and support their ongoing maintenance, improvement, and usability.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, training guides, Quick Reference Guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and other user support materials.
  • Assist with training users on new or enhanced applications and develop learning materials using appropriate instructional design principles.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, strengthen relationships with business units and senior stakeholders, and contribute to additional projects as needed.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, particularly in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Approximately 8-10 years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance principles, underwriting processes, and technical insurance products.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business requirements and writing functional specifications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including application development, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Experience evaluating solution options, defining system scope, and translating business needs into functional and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with underwriting software, insurance-specific applications, and enterprise platforms.
  • Experience working with legacy systems; the ability to create legacy-system training and guidance documentation is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of UI and design specifications, wireframes, UML, BPMN, and business process modeling.
  • Familiarity with formal methodologies for planning and executing application development, enhancement, and support activities.
  • Understanding of client-server application design, development, and support tools and techniques.
  • Experience supporting QA and UAT activities, production issue investigation, defect resolution, and deployment processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to research software functionality and produce clear training materials for business analysts, solution architects, developers, and end users.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, including learning objectives, logical content organization, and effective exercises or examples.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex underwriting and technical concepts to underwriters, actuaries, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis and the ability to recommend effective solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative, customer-focused approach to working across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify key success factors, and remain focused on business outcomes.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in a varied, fast-paced service delivery environment.
Benefits
  • Remote work arrangement.
  • Permanent employment opportunity.
  • Exposure to business-critical insurance systems, P&C underwriting processes, and enterprise technology initiatives.
