We are looking for a Subcontracting Manager. This position will report to the GM, Subcontracting Management and the preferred location is Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Accountabilities:

Responsible for the subcontracting cycle from sales to project closure, including planning, risk analysis, management of the tender process, qualification of subcontractors, contractual negotiations, and selection for contract award. The Subcontracting Manager manages and provides expertise and support for projects from sales through to EPC project closure, ensuring compliance with processes, management governance, and internal policies.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Lead the Subcontracting Planning and participate in the subcontracting risk management from the early sales phase through completion for the EPC projects.
2. Lead and steer project subcontracting activities.
3. Provide strong cooperation and leadership in a new market, regarding construction local laws, construction requirements for contractors, unions, etc., in cross-organizational cooperation with sales, project management teams, legal, etc.
4. Lead the sourcing of contractors for selected sales and execution projects in the Energy business.
5. Establish NDA agreements with subcontractors and develop a subcontractor network as per project-country responsibilities.
6. Coordinate tenders and actively participate in contract negotiations and awards following internal processes and governance.
7. Manage project risks including subcontracting risk monitoring and performance evaluations for EPC projects.
8. Perform assessments, audits, and compliance checks according to Wärtsilä requirements and subcontracting tools, including performance evaluations.
9. Participate in customer/stakeholder negotiations as needed and maintain good relationships.
10. Maintain and develop relationships with the portfolio of assigned subcontractors in line with internal requirements.

Requirements:

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in subcontracting processes and practices.
• Robust experience in Construction.
• Experience with Risk Management methods.
• Knowledge in Contract negotiations.
• Good understanding of the Sales Process.
• Cost Management awareness and effectiveness.
• High ethical standards.
• Drive for new ways of working and change leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and cooperation skills.
• Business-minded and goal-oriented, with excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Cultural awareness and the ability to work in multicultural teams.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus.
