Staff Backend Software Engineer (TypeScript) – TELUS Digital

São Paulo-SP, Brazil or Porto Alegre-RS, Brazil. Hybrid role (office presence required as described below).

Location and Flexibility

This is a hybrid role. This model requires the ability to work in a hybrid mode from one of our offices in São Paulo (2 times per week or 8 days per month) or Porto Alegre (3 times per week or 12 days per month). Our WFN culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other global offices.

Responsibilities

Contribute to and guide cross-organizational engineers in following platform-level design patterns in their projects.
Orchestrate CI infrastructure for minimal pipeline run times and actionable feedback.
Help mentor and coach a product team towards shared goals and outcomes.
Navigate difficult conversations by providing constructive feedback to teams.
Identify obstacles to ensure quality, improve user experience, and enhance testing.
Be self-aware of limitations, yet curious to learn new solutions while being receptive to constructive feedback from teammates.
Guide your team to understand and work through changing priorities by bringing positive energy.
Communicate and simplify complex problems to foster understanding across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

10+ years of web development experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in TypeScript (Nest.js, Node.js) and TypeORM.
Comprehensive understanding of back-end code, databases (SQL and NoSQL), security, and APIs.
Experience implementing web security standards in development.
Experience with cloud platforms, microservices and serverless architecture (GCP and/or AWS).
Proficient in the discovery process with stakeholders and formulating detailed plans to solve critical issues.
Ability to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, platforms, test methodologies, and patterns.
Excellent ability to present complex technical and product-related information to various partners.
Proficient in communicating and writing in English.

Bonus Points

Extensive experience building automated test suites and using granular debugging tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc., and experience setting up deployment pipelines.
Familiarity with Vercel and Next.js.
GCP, Apigee and infrastructure proficiency is a plus.
Familiarity with Firebase and Firestore.
