Metal Toad seeks a senior solutions architect to design cloud-based, cost-efficient AWS solutions for clients, aligning architecture with business goals.

You will guide engineering teams through SDLC, assist sales with estimates, and contribute thought leadership through blogs and talks. This remote Brazil-based contractor role supports client projects with no visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of programming experience.

• AWS Certified or able to achieve an AWS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Design cloud-based solutions for client needs within budget and scope.
• Create accurate estimates and assist in resource allocation for tickets.
• Guide engineers to right-size solutions and prevent over-engineering.
• Participate in all SDLC phases including sales, estimation, coding, and program management.
• Publish 8+ thought leadership pieces per year (blogs / articles / lunch-and-learns).
• Produce project plans and timelines with budgets.

We are a professional services firm providing services in software engineering and the cloud. We do Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management.

Metal Toad is a fully remote company, offering all team members the ability to work from home.

Although Metal Toad is a remote company, we are currently seeking contractors residing in Brazil for this position. Compensation will be made in Brazilian Reais (R$), following the local currency of the country where the position is located. Due to legal limitations, we are unable to sponsor any type of visa.

Job Description

The mission for this role is to design solutions for sales and help engineering teams construct technical solutions.

OUTCOMES

• Design Efficient solutions: All client solutions should be designed to meet the clients needs within their budget and without over engineering.
• Ensure designs are cost optimized: Designs are the right mix of build, buy, open source, modules, etc that maximizes the clients' ROI.
• Aligns stakeholders: Produce deck slides, given presentations, and other activities to ensure stakeholders from the C-Suite to team developers are inspired and aligned on vision.

Activities

• Estimation & Allocation: Create accurate estimates for every ticket to enable proper resource allocation.
• Guide engineers: Ensure engineering efforts focus on the right-size/right-cost solution to prevent over-engineering and developer spiraling.
• Project contribution: Participate in all phases of the SDLC including, sales, estimating, coding, program management, and other activities as needed.
• Thought Leadership: Guide Metal Toad engineers and the community by publishing 8+ times per year. This can include blogs, articles, or hosting lunch and learns.
• Accurate estimates: Create project plans and tickets with accurate timelines and budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• AWS Certified or able to achieve an AWS certification within 90 days.

• Experience with various kinds of software documents including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, network diagrams, and UML diagrams.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with both backend and frontend programming languages.
• 2+ years as an architect designing solutions on AWS.
• An AWS professional or Specialty certification.
