Job Overview

Canonical is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager passionate about operational systems, open source technologies, and cutting-edge hardware. You will lead engineering teams to optimize Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x, and POWER systems, partnering with silicon vendors to enhance platform performance and features.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels.
2. Oversee project delivery and support customer engagements.
3. Provide technical leadership on system architecture projects.
4. Implement disciplined engineering practices.
5. Maintain and optimize platform software stacks.
6. Contribute to code reviews and technical documentation.
7. Engage with internal teams and external communities to promote technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in STEM or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with Linux, kernel, and user space software.
• Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or similar distributions.
• Proven leadership in software engineering teams.
