What You’ll Do

We seek passionate individuals to build data-driven risk management systems. You will gain exposure to all aspects of financial crime prevention, from developing customer-facing experiences to collaborating with data scientists to integrate models into production. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the role involves interfacing with multiple systems across Brex.

You will work on high-impact projects, maintaining data integrity, ensuring compliance, and driving financial outcomes. This role offers specialized knowledge in risk management and contributes to building trusted financial services while safeguarding customers, the platform, and market integrity.

Where You’ll Work

This role is based in our São Paulo office. You must be willing to work in the office at least two days per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting the week of September 1st, 2025, when our São Paulo office opens.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure high-quality data for decision systems, using risk vendors and internal models to provide actionable insights for risk management and customer experience improvements.
2. Develop low-latency decision systems for risk assessment during onboarding, payments, authentication, and in-app processes, leveraging machine learning models.
3. Build in-product tools to enhance decision systems while making risk management unobtrusive.
4. Create systems for comprehensive customer due diligence, including KYC, sanctions, adverse media, PEP, and AML monitoring.

Minimum Requirements

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Kotlin, Go, Python, or Java. Experience with Kotlin is a plus.
• Foundational knowledge of Machine Learning and experience working with ML-integrated systems, supporting model deployment and feature pipelines.
• Interest in data-driven systems, solving complex problems, and risk management (prior risk experience is not required).
• Aptitude for building effective, user-centric tools for internal teams.
• Strong ownership, motivation to protect customers, and high standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in the São Paulo office at least two days per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications.
• Experience with low-latency decisioning systems at scale and deploying models.
