Description:

As a Software Engineer, you will work on one of the world's largest social media platforms, handling a few petabytes of data daily. You will be part of an R&D self-organized team working in a challenging, innovative environment for our client.

You will investigate, create, and implement solutions for various technical challenges using cutting-edge technologies, including building and enhancing performance, optimization to improve user experience, and speeding up data transformation and processing pipelines. You will help enable the software used by hundreds of millions of users.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Obtain tasks from the project or team lead, prepare functional and design specifications, and approve them with stakeholders.
• Ensure delivery within deadlines and quality objectives.
• Provide estimations, agree on task durations, and contribute to project planning.
• Evaluate existing data systems.
• Develop best practices for data coding to ensure consistency.
• Update and optimize local and metadata models.
• Evaluate data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and optimize data systems.
• Understand business drivers and analytical use-cases, translating them into data products.
• Design, implement, and maintain pipelines that produce reliable and efficient business-critical data using cloud technology.
• Address area-level risks and implement mitigation plans.
• Report on area readiness and quality; escalate issues beyond their scope.
• Resolve crisis situations within their scope.
• Conduct code reviews, establish code standards and guidelines.
• Suggest technical and functional improvements.
• Continuously improve professional skills.
• Collaborate with other teams.

Required Education and Experience

Must have:

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with strong C++ and Java skills.
• Experience with distributed storage systems like Apache Cassandra, Apache Druid, and StarRocks.
• Linux/Bash experience.
• Basic knowledge of Docker.
• Willingness to collaborate across multiple teams.
• Good English skills (oral and written), with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn quickly.

Experience working in an Agile environment is preferred.

Would be a plus:

• Experience with Java and Python.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Python.
• Experience with Bazel for building and testing large multi-language, multi-platform codebases.

Work mode: 100% remote (aligned with USA time zones).
